Zakuna delivered a complete architectural joinery package across two modern homes. The staircase was never treated as an isolated feature — instead, it was conceived as a sculptural yet understated link between levels, shaping how light and material flow through the space.
Staircase as Spatial Element
At the heart of the scheme is Zakuna’s Contender staircase, designed for a light yet robust structural profile, coupled with a bespoke Amphitheatre style for the first 5 treads for displaying ornaments / plants. By locating support centrally , the system maintains openness while delivering full functionality and structural integrity. Frameless glass balustrades and open risers invite natural light to move freely, contributing to a sense of calm and spatial coherence.
A Unified Material Language
The hardwood treads, crafted from sustainably sourced European Oak , were selected to complement the full joinery palette. Because Zakuna also supplied the internal doors, wooden flooring , windows, and external doors, every detail — from reveal depths to finishes — could be aligned from the outset. This early coordination ensured that all elements felt visually and materially consistent.
Every junction, connection and surface was resolved with care, so that the homes speak a single architectural language — one of restraint, material integrity and precision.
Fabrication and Detail Execution
All elements were fabricated in-house under ISO-certified systems, with every tolerance considered and tightened throughout. This approach allowed for exceptional precision and consistency. The staircase was not merely installed — it was integrated, offering a refined and enduring presence within the space.
