This renovation project in Cambridge has been transformed by the installation of our staircase and a coordinated suite of interior doors, adding a modern and contemporary feel whilst opening up the interior to create a brighter, more welcoming home.
Contender Staircase
Our award winning Contender Staircase serves as the centrepiece of this renovation, its central spine design bringing a sense of architectural ambition to the property. The central spine stair, with quarter landing, glass balustrades and no visible fixing element gives the look of a seamless ‘floating staircase’, exuding quality and a lightness that belies its structural integrity.
Stained Oak treads have a set back step nose and concealed lighting fitted under each tread, which highlights the architecture of the staircase. This LED illumination creates a gentle ambient glow in the evening, casting soft shadows that accentuate the floating effect and provide practical guidance between floors. The Box Platform creates an inviting approach and allows the stairs to be accessed from different angles, a generous design gesture that opens up the ground floor layout.
The steel string is finished in Black for a contrasting and stylish effect, its slender profile drawing a bold line through the centre of the staircase. Matching black glass button fixings to the balustrades and Black Stained Oak square handrails add a beautiful finishing touch. The Stained Oak apron, fitted around the opening, matches perfectly with the stair treads, providing a clean, considered edge to the first floor opening that frames views down through the stairwell.
Designo Grooved G101 Interior Doors
As part of the interior design scheme for this renovation project, a suite of Designo Grooved G101 Interior Doors in Stained Oak perfectly match the Contender Staircase. These pre-hung interior door sets feature a stunning geometric pattern CNC machined into the surface of the door, creating a tactile, three-dimensional quality that adds visual interest to every doorway.
Our modern architrave system, black concealed hinges, black magnetic latches and LH5 black handles add the perfect finishing touches. The consistent use of black ironmongery throughout the door package echoes the black steel elements of the Contender Staircase, establishing a unified design language that ties the entire renovation together with confident, contemporary style.
