This prestigious installation project in Belgravia encompasses a comprehensive package of bespoke architectural products, where a dramatic staircase and a full suite of interior doors have been designed to work in complete harmony within this elegant London residence.
Wayfarer Staircase
The centrepiece of this project is a three flight Wayfarer Staircase which wraps around a central glass lift, creating an architectural composition of considerable complexity and visual impact. The integration of staircase and lift shaft required meticulous design coordination, ensuring both elements complement one another whilst maintaining their individual presence within the space.
The Wayfarer Staircase is a popular choice for its contemporary styling and angular lines. The steel strings create a visually strong and dramatic effect, designed with the treads fixed neatly between the strings for a clean, precise appearance. Stained Dark Oak treads with closed risers were specified, fitted with a contrasting carpet runner that adds both comfort and a layer of traditional refinement. The bespoke railings were designed and created with textured painted steel spindles for a contemporary look, creating a feeling of elegance throughout the three flights. The square Oak handrail complements the neutral blended tones of the interior decor, tying the staircase seamlessly into its surroundings.
Artisan Interior Doors
A suite of Artisan Interior Doors including fire rated doors and matching pocket doors were installed to complete the client’s design. The inclusion of fire rated doors ensures full compliance with current building regulations, an essential consideration for a property of this scale and specification.
Internal pre-hung door sets were 2.2m in height, manufactured in White Ash, with bespoke styling, traditional panelling and brass inlays that reflect the refined character of the Belgravia address. The taller than standard door height adds a sense of grandeur, perfectly proportioned for the generous ceiling heights within the property. Pocket doors were specified for select locations, offering a space-saving solution that maintains the clean aesthetic throughout.
Polished brass LH105 knurled handles were selected to add the finishing touch, their tactile, machined texture adding a layer of craftsmanship that is immediately felt. Every element, from the staircase to the door furniture, has been carefully coordinated to deliver a cohesive and luxurious interior.
