Staircase with Timber & Glass Elegance – Reigate

This new build property, part of a small development in Reigate, Surrey, presented an opportunity to create a striking interior centrepiece that would define the character of the home from the moment you step through the front door. The combination of a dramatic staircase and a coordinated suite of interior doors establishes a cohesive design language throughout.

Wayfarer Staircase

This stunning Wayfarer Staircase was designed to create a dramatic and contemporary feel within the property. The two flights of stairs with galleried landings and glass balustrades create a striking central focal point at all levels and from all angles, drawing the eye upward through the heart of the home.

The staircase itself has black finished steel strings to the sides and strong angular lines, with the hardwood treads fixed neatly between the strings for a clean, precise appearance. Treads are 40mm Oak with a stepped nose, perfectly colour matched to the owner’s hallway flooring for seamless visual continuity between staircase and ground floor. Glass balustrades are neatly sandwiched between the strings with hidden fixings for clean lines and a minimalist look, allowing light to flow freely through the stairwell.

The black steel angular handrails complement the striking design, their geometric profile echoing the strong lines of the strings below. As a finishing touch, LED lights are neatly hidden under the treads in routered grooves, giving subtle ambient lighting and beautiful shadows that accentuate the design. In the evening, these concealed lights transform the staircase into a sculptural feature, each step individually illuminated for both visual drama and practical guidance.

Designo Grooved G101 Interior Doors

A suite of Designo Grooved G101 Interior Doors were installed throughout the property, finished in Slate stained Oak. The angular CNC cut design on each door surface perfectly matches the pattern of the stair wall cladding, creating complete cohesion throughout the interior decor. This deliberate coordination between door and wall finish demonstrates the level of design thinking that elevates this project, where every surface and detail has been considered as part of a unified whole. The result is an interior that feels thoroughly considered, with the Grooved G101 doors reinforcing the contemporary character established by the Wayfarer Staircase.
