The Nacra Staircase represents a sophisticated fusion of two design traditions, combining the cut string engineering of the Challenger Staircase with the contemporary aesthetics of the Wayfarer Staircase.
The result is a striking ‘Saw Blade’ design featuring angular steel strings with treads fixed neatly between. The cut string profile creates a distinctive silhouette that is visually interesting from every angle — architectural geometry expressed through the staircase itself. Perfectly complemented by minimalist glass balustrades, the Nacra’s clean angular lines define contemporary luxury. Available in any RAL colour, stainless steel, or Corten steel, the Nacra Staircase offers extensive customisation. The design is equally suited to residential and commercial applications, with the angular aesthetic appealing to architects seeking a staircase that makes a bold design statement. Treads in timber, glass, steel, or composite materials can be fully customised, whilst the precision engineering ensures building regulations compliance.
The Nacra Staircase exemplifies contemporary architectural thinking applied to staircase design. The cut string profile creates visual interest and serves a practical purpose — the stepping pattern naturally accommodates a broad range of tread materials and finishes.
All Zakuna Nacra Staircases comply fully with UK building regulations and are engineered to exacting structural standards. Treads in timber, glass, steel, concrete, or composite materials offer extensive customisation, allowing the designer to create a unified architectural solution. The minimalist aesthetic particularly suits frameless glass balustrades, creating a clean, uncluttered visual presentation. Handrails are available in a variety of contemporary profiles.
