The Solo Staircase is a masterclass in spatial efficiency and architectural elegance. This sophisticated zig-zag staircase features two supporting steel strings that are cleverly enclosed within the treads, risers, and soffit construction, creating a continuous architectural flow that is visually striking from every angle.
Looking from above, you see the zig-zag pattern descending. Looking from below, the same pattern emerges. From the side, the profile is equally compelling. This multidirectional visual interest makes the Solo Staircase an exceptional feature staircase for open-plan residential and commercial interiors where the staircase itself is intended to be a focal point. The enclosed string construction is technically demanding but delivers exceptional aesthetic quality. Available in an extensive range of natural woods and finishes. Balustrades can be specified in glass, with spindles or railings, or contemporary alternatives.
The Solo Staircase appeals to architects and designers seeking a staircase that transcends functional necessity and becomes a true architectural feature. The hidden string construction is an engineering achievement that creates a staircase of exceptional visual quality.
All Zakuna Solo Staircases comply fully with UK building regulations and are engineered to exacting specification. The enclosed steel strings support timber, glass, steel, or composite treads, and open or closed risers, all fully customisable to integrate with your interior palette. Glass is typically side fixed to the treads with visible stainless steel buttons. For an invisible look, concealed glass fixings can be specified, whereby a timber cover is fixed to the edge of the glass.
