Zakuna’s exclusive Challenger Staircase, has been shortlisted as this years ‘Best Joinery Product’ at the prestigious Build It Awards 2019 , to be announced in November.
After winning this prestigious award for 2018 with our Contender staircase, we are naturally delighted to announce Zakuna’s exclusive Challenger staircase, has been shortlisted for this years ‘Best Joinery Product’ at the prestigious Build It Awards 2019.
Often referred to as a Zig Zag staircase, the Challenger is a popular choice in contemporary properties. Precision engineered as a self supporting structure, there is no requirement for newel posts, giving the illusion of a floating staircase. The strings are slim and uniquely designed to create a stunning and dramatic effect, finished in any RAL colour to suit the interior design / customer requirements.
Due to the slim styling of the strings, the staircase can be designed with curves, kites and winders, which in itself, accentuates the ‘zigzag’ end of the string, making the staircase, a striking feature.
Solid hardwood treads are extremely hard wearing, simply fitted on top the strings for an modern look. Available in a choice of woods and finishes, the hardwood treads can be colour matched to other products such as flooring and internal doors for cohesion throughout the project.
The glass balustrade is most popular with this design, either face fixed to the string or the glass is sandwiched between two plates on the string and the glass is profiled to the shape of the stair which gives an amazing clean look.
Edward Rhys-Hurn, Zakuna Managing Director comments, “To have our products nominated and shortlisted again for this award is a great achievement and recognition of the hard work and personal service that we deliver. Designing staircases is an integral part of our business, its also most exciting. We have created some stunning centrepieces with superb visual aesthetics, perfectly styled to create that certain ‘wow factor’ to enhance our clients homes and commercial projects.”
