Glass with button fixings
Glass balustrades are fixed to the side of the stair with a choice of painted or stainless steel buttons. In compliance with BS 6180: 2011, single toughened glass must have a handrail that is connected to another sheet of glass, wall or newel post.
- Glass as standard is Safety Toughened Glass, a minimum of 12mm thickness with radius corners and polished edges
- Can also be specified as Curved Glass on Spiral and Helical Stairs
- The same method can be used to fix glass around the opening of the stairs, with or without a timber cover over the floor cassette
- Other glass thicknesses available are 15mm and 19mm
- Toughened and Laminated Glass can be specified without a handrail, as standard we provide 17.5mm (8+8mm) Toughened and Laminated Glass

Glass with concealed fixings (Timber cover)
Glass balustrades are fixed to the side of the stair with stainless steel buttons. Timber covers are routed and fitted on to glass to conceal the fixings. When used in conjunction with our thicker treads, it can give the appearance that the glass has passed through the treads, enhancing the floating tread appearance. In compliance with BS 6180: 2011, single toughened glass must have a handrail that is connected to another sheet of glass, wall or newel post.
- Suitable option for stairs with exposed sides such as our Central Spine Stairs, String Under Treads and Cantilever Stairs
- A similar solution is also used on our Zig-Zag Solo Staircase where the fixing are covered by a Zig-Zag timber cover over glass fixings
- The same method can be used to fix glass around the opening of the stairs, with timber matching the stairs, flooring or ceiling

Glass with concealed fixings (Strings from side)
For an invisible look with clean lines, the glass balustrades can be fixed between a double skinned stringer with parnite spacers. Countersunk fixings are reverse fixed from the tread side of the steel strings to create hidden fixings from the exterior side of the stair. In compliance with BS 6180: 2011, single toughened glass must have a handrail that is connected to another sheet of glass, wall or newel post.

- The same method can be used to fix glass balustrades around the opening of the stairs, but countersunk fixings will be visible

Glass Balustrade in U-Channel
For an invisible look with clean lines, the glass balustrades can be fixed into a U-Channel profile that can be top or side fixed around an opening The U-Channel profile can be painted in any RAL colour, mill finish, plain aluminium or metallic finishes. In compliance with BS 6180: 2011 Single toughened glass must have a handrail that is connected to another sheet of glass, wall or newel post.

Glass balustrades are fixed between steel or timber posts which can be top fixed or side fixed to the stairs or opening. Available with or without top handrail. In compliance with BS 6180: 2011 Single toughened glass must have a handrail that is connected to another sheet of glass, wall or newel post. Suitable for exterior stairs and exterior balconies when specified to be either AISI 316 Stainless Steel or Galvanized and or painted steel.

Tension Wires Balustrade
Steel Tension wires are fixed between steel posts which can be top fixed or side fixed to the stairs or opening. As per building regulations gaps between wires must be less than 100mm. Please note: Tension in wires must be maintained to avoid slack by adjustable fixings.

Round Spindles
For a classic feel, stainless steel vertical spindles are a popular option, fixed to the handrail and stair treads. As per current building regulations, gaps between spindles must be less than 100mm. Available in natural woods to match the treads or in Steel, Galvanised Steel, Stainless Steel, Oiled Steel, or Corten Steel.
- Spindles are 16mm or 20mm diameter as standard
- Spindles around the opening can be fixed into a 40x40mm timber floor profile or directly into the floor (with suitable substrate and resin fixings)

Our 10mm x 40mm or 10mm x 50mm flat steel railings give a modern and simplistic design to any staircase. Railing sections are typically side fixed to stair strings and openings but we can also create a very effective design when top fixing into the stairs, following the Z-cut shape of the stair.

Steel sheets are typically 4-6mm thick with 8mm diameter holes as standard. Other thicknesses and hole sizes available. Steel sheets can also be formed from thicker steel to form treads and risers in the same material.
