Wider Bottom Treads

Adding a wider tread at the bottom of your stairs can make your stair more accessible from a practicality point of view. It also creates a statement of grandeur to your stairs. Adding progressively wider treads to the bottom like Box Landings, will create an architectural focal point on your stairs. Adding "D" shape ends on the wider bottom treads is more traditional and suitable for where railings and handrails have larger feature newel posts or volutes.
