Spiral Commercial
Zakuna Spiral Commercial staircases are a great space saving design as the steps are positioned within its diameter and they do not exceed beyond this footprint. Our spiral stairs are tailor made to your exact specification. Treads can be specified from a wide choice of material options to suit your design requirements.
A Spiral Stair can be tucked into a corner location of the room which then maximizes the rest of your living space. In comparison to a Helical Staircase the typical footprint of a Spiral Stair is smaller and turns more sharply.
The center post forms the foundation for all spiral staircases. It can be made from wood, steel, stainless steel or galvanised steel. The post has a solid base plate that will be mounted to the floor. A solid concrete pad stone or wood base is required and under floor heating should be avoided near the fixing points. Each individual tread is positioned from the central post working around in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation. Supporting balusters and a handrail will be fixed to the widest part of the step to provide a safe climb up the spiral staircase. Treads must be a minimum width of 600mm to comply with building regulations. The top step of a spiral stair is a larger landing, this is used secure the stair to the upper floor area.

Typically, Spiral Commercial Stairs are open rise stairs. A step nose and up-stand or riser bars may be required to ensure the gap between the treads are less than 100mm to comply with building regulations.
Zakuna also manufacture Glass Spiral Commercial Stairs with safety toughened and laminated glass treads, with anti-slip dots or sandblasting options. We can also create you a solution for Tile, Concrete and Carpet Treads to your requirements.
We can design and fabricate Galvaised Steel Spiral Commercial Staircases for exterior locations with a large option of treads designs, including Fire Escape stairs.
Materials & Finishes
Treads are made from a variety of hardwoods: Ash, Birch, Oak, Mahogany, Teak or Walnut. Natural woods are chosen for their strength and durability, and can be stained or painted to any colour of your choice. We offer an extensive selection of stains and painted finishes which provide a durable finish, whilst still retaining the unique, natural properties of the wood.
An intricate design to each tread can be CNC routered and inlayed with brass bars to add a high class finish, whilst also providing anti-slip protection for the high traffic stairway. Closed steel risers, steel substrates and fire rated plasterboard to the underside of the stairway can be incorporated into the design for compliancy to building regulations.
Vertical steel spindles are a popular choice with this staircase due to the tighter turns.
Curved Glass is possible with spiral stairs but the minimum radius is also dependent on glass thickness, please ask us for more information if you wish to specify a curved glass spiral stairs info@zakuna.co.uk. Choose from a variety of handrail styles, spindles and tensioned wires to suit your design requirements - colour matched or contrasting to the treads and central post.
Horizontal steel balustrades can be fabricated with your spiral stairs, however we advise to check with your building control officer on their compliance, as they are often classed as a climbing hazard for children and do not meet building regulations.
Choose from a variety of handrail designs, in natural woods or steel to match or contrast with your treads and to add a finishing touch to your stair design.
Sizes
Our standard door leaf sizes range between: 1981mm - 2500mm height, 626mm -1026mm width. Made to Measure door leaf sizes are up to: 2900mm height, 1300mm width. Please ask for more details: info@zakuna.co.uk
Fire Door Options
Zakuna doors can be manufactured with FD30 or FD60 cores. As well as smoke seals, thresholds and intumescent strips installed within the door where necessary. If you require a self-closer for FD30S and FD60S, our hidden hinges can be upgraded to have a hidden self-closing mechanism within the frame and door, with no visible difference to our standard hidden hinges.
Door leaf thickness for Fire Rated Doors are 45mm for FD30, 52mm for FD60.
Installation
Our Pre-hung Interior Door Sets are easy to install, reducing labour, time and cost on site, in comparison to tradition methods. Door leaves, frames, linings and architraves are unassembled and supplied loose for on-site assembly. Installation instructions, fittings and fixings are provided. Our recommended consumables can be supplied as an option. We also offer a full installation service.
From Design to Installation

Our aim is to make the entire process as simple and practical as possible, offering a site survey and solutions to the challenges presented by complex design issues, building regulations and installation systems.
